The people of Araromi Oke-Odo where, on the 30th of September,2023, thrown into wild jubilation and euphoria as Sholep Energy Limited, a global renewable energy giant, built and commissioned a Multi-Million Naira 50KW Solar Hybrid Mini-grid Power Plant and Clean Water Supply Project in the community.
Araromi Oke-Odo,an ancient and agrarian community located in the heart of the Osun State Government Forest Reservation Area, in Ife South Local Government, has never had a taste of Electricity Supply since her creation in 1932. Not even a Pole of Electricity Supply has ever been sank in the soil of the community until the intervention of Sholep Energy Limited
This long awaited dream of having a taste of a sustainable and affordable Electricity Supply in the ancient and agrarian community was brought to an overwhelming reality by Sholep Energy Limited, through the construction and official commissioning of the 50KW Solar Hybrid Mini-Grid Power Plant and Clean Water Supply Facilities. This first of its kind Solar Power Plant in Osun State would provide the people of the community with a 24/7 uninterrupted power supply.
Speaking at the remarkable event, the Osun State Honorable Commissioner for Energy, Hon. Adeyemo Ademola, who represented the Executive Governor Of Osun State, His Excellency, Sen.Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke, gave tremendous kudos to the global renewable giant for the life touching project located at the ancient community.
While delivering the message of the Osun State Governor, Hon. Adeyemo Ademola, appreciated Sholep Energy Limited for ensuring that rural communities, whom are not served by the National Electricity Grid, are now captured by this great energy solution initiative in Osun State.
The Honourable Commissioner went further to highlight the avalanche of social benefits and economic importance of such energy amenity. He stated that, Electricity Supply is an important catalyst needed to geometrically fast track the Socio-Economic Development and Commercial activities of any human Settlement, Community, Town, State or Nation. He mentioned further that, this wonderful project put in place by Sholep Energy Limited, would help to create more jobs for thousands of people in the host community, thereby reducing poverty rate, and improving the living conditions of the dwellers.
He noted that, the successful construction and commissioning of the pioneered Multi-Million Naira Solar Hybrid Mini-Grid Power Plant Project, has brought Sholep Energy Limited at par with other International Energy Solution Companies.
Hon. Adeyemo Ademola appealed to the people of Araromi Oke-Odo to cordially join hands with Sholep Energy Limited and other critical stakeholders in areas that would help to sustain the huge energy investment placed in their domain through provision of adequate security, prevention of vandalization of any kind, prompt and regular payment of their energy bills as at when due.
On a final note, the Honorable Commissioner for Energy assured Sholep Energy Limited of the readiness of Osun State Government to provide any support that would sustain and encourage further investment in the Rural Renewable Electrification Sector. He said the administration of His Excellency, Sen. Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke, would never leave any stone unturned in providing conducive environment for Socio-Economic Development Investment in Osun State.
Other Government functionaries who accompanied the Honourable Commissioner to the unforgettable event includes the Senior Special Adviser to the Governor on Energy, Prince Bimbo Bolarinwa, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Water Resources and Energy, Engr.Olusola Ajao, and the Director (Energy), Ministry of Water Resources and Energy, Engr. Johnson.
While speaking on behalf of his people, the Alara of Araromi Oke-Odo, Oba Abass Akanbi Gbadamosi (Lujugba1), appreciated God Almighty for the successful completion and official commissioning of the 50KW Solar Hybrid Mini-grid Power Plant and Clean Water Supply Project in his community, despite the series of challenges Sholep Energy Limited went through in the course of making the Multi-Million Naira Solar Power Plant Project a reality. He stated further that, he has been receiving alot of phone calls from potential investors and entrepreneurs whom are ready to build businesses in Araromi Oke-Odo upon hearing the good news of the Solar Hybrid Mini-Grid Power Plant constructed by Sholep Energy Limited.
The Royal King saluted the uncommon display of doggedness, enviable dedication, and astonishing commitment of the Chairman/CEO of Sholep Energy Limited, Engr. Olalekan Adeleke Shogbesan, in the face of turbulent moments while the construction of the Multi-Million Naira Power Plant Project was ongoing.
Oba Abass Akanbi Gbadamosi appreciated the Osun State Governor, HE. Sen. Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke, for the great works he has being doing in Osun State in fulfilling his campaign promises since the commencement of his administration. He also thanked the Governor for his unrelenting efforts in taking Osun State and her people to an enviable Socio-Economic hight in the committee of States in Nigeria, and the World as a whole.
Oba Abass did not fail to mention that, since the creation of Araromi Oke-Odo In 1932, the community has never had a taste of Electricity Supply not until the gracious intervention of Sholep Energy Limited through this commendable Solar Power Plant. He assured the Chairman/CEO of the Energy Company, Engr. Olalekan Shogbesan, of the full support of himself, and the entire people of Araromi Oke-Odo in ensuring the safety, viability, and sustainability of the Project.
Engr. Araromi Oké-odo is an ancient and agrarian community that was founded in 1932. The inhabitants,who are mainly Yoruba speaking people of different dialects, are predominantly Farmers. Some of the inhabitants are hunters,while others engaged in other trades or commercial activities to make a living. There are other inhabitants who are of other tribes,such as Hausas, Igbos, Ogojas, Uhrobos, just to mention a few.
The ancient community is known for her profound Timber Business activities. This is made possible because of her strategic location in the heart of the Osun State Government Forest Reserve. Araromi Oke-Odo has a population of about 6,000 inhabitants, hence, the Economic viability of such colossal developmental project is not in doubt.
Another striking story about Araromi Oké-odo is that, the people of the Community, in Ife South Local Government of Osun State, has never had the taste of Electricity Supply since she was founded. Not even a Pole for Electricity Power has been sank into the soil of the community since her creation about 100years ago.
