On February 26, 2021, the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) commissioned a 1.35MW Solar Hybrid Power Project at the Federal University of Petroleum, Effurun (FUPRE), Delta State. This project is the 5th under the Phase 1 of the Energizing Education Programme implemented by the REA.
The Deputy President of the Senate, Distinguished Senator Ovie Omo Agege conducted the commissioning in the midst of the Honourable Minister of State for Power, Mr. Goddy Jedy-Agba, OFR, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the REA, Engr. Ahmad Salihijo Ahmad and a host of other high profile dignitaries. The Deputy Senate President encouraged the University to optimize the usage of the power plant. The Senator also presented the female EEP STEM Interns with their certificates of completion of the STEM Internship Training Programme after which he took a tour of the facility

ne of the critical components of the EEP is the Workshop and Training Centers (WTCs) constructed alongside the solar hybrid power plants. Furnished with learning tools, the WTCs are optimized as learning hubs for the STEM interns.
