- The newly appointed MD/CEO of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA), Ahmad Salihijo on resumption, met with top management and staff of the Agency and thereafter conducted a familarization tour of the REA Headquarters in Abuja.

MD/CEO REA MEETS WITH KOREAN INSTITUTE FOR ADVANCEMENT OF TECHNOLOGY (KIAT)
REA Team with representatives of Korean Institute for Advancement of Technology (KIAT)

January 15, 2020 - The MD/CEO REA, Ahmad Salihijo, with top management staff of the Agency met with Korean Ambassador to Nigeria, H.E. Lee In-Tae and his team at the CHQ, to discuss and share thoughts on mini grid technologies, energy management systems, access to data, battery technologies, system maintenance and how both organizations can support each other for a better collaboration on the journey to electrify Nigera.

MD/CEO REA, MEETS WITH MCA SUN AFRICA ON INVESTMENT FOR NIGERIA MINI GRID SECTOR

January 23rd, 2020 - The MD/CEO REA, Ahmad Salihijo recieved MCA Sun Africa for discussions on investments in Nigerian mini grid development, geared towards powering Nigeria, one community at a time.

MCA Sun Africa is a United States based mini grid firm that has developed renewable energy projects in Africa with focus on utility scale and mini grid projects.

Ltd, paid a courtesy visit to MD/CE on Wednesday 29th January, 2020, where they discussed various components of Renewable Energy products being deployed by Huawei in Nigeria and across Africa and indicated their willingness in collaborating with REA as partner in driving the mandate of the Agency. Mr. Sean Melbourne , Head of Climate Change and Energy West Africa, British High Commission, Abuja, paid a courtesy call to MD/CE at his office on Thursday 30th January, 2020, where they discussed energy and development. Mr Sean also provided feedback on the recently held UK-Africa investment summit.

MINI GRID: The Nigerian Mini-Grid Market: Opportunities for Investment.

Hitherto, the strategy/policy for providing electricity to otherwise   parts of the country has been the expansion of the national grid.  Now, it is generally agreed that while expanding the national grid is desirable, it is not the most economically viable option.  It requires huge capital investment and expansion of the grid to rural communities as well as enormous resources to renovate aging national grid infrastructure.
