Honourable Minister of Health and Social Welfare Receive the REA team as the Agency lays out its sustainable energy interventions in healthcare institutions nationwide:
On Thursday, the 22nd of February 2024, the REA team, led by Engr. Ahmad Salihijo Ahmad, the Agency's MD/CEO and Abba Abubakr Aliyu, the Head, Nigeria Electrification Project (NEP) paid a working visit to the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, Abuja.
As part of the REA's strategic efforts in the deployment of clean energy solutions in healthcare institutions, the Honourable Minister, Prof Ali Pate was briefed on the Agency's healthcare-focused interventions, both completed and ongoing.
The REA equally briefed the Honourable Minister on the Agency's sustainability mechanism for the healthcare-focused energy interventions.
While commending the REA's impact footprint in the health sector, Prof. Pate assured the team of the Ministry's support in further strengthening the interplay between sustainable energy and quality healthcare delivery in Nigeria.
Through REA's healthcare-focused interventions, it has delivered over 25MWp of installed renewable energy, providing energy to 200+ primary healthcare centers (PHCs) and 100 isolation and treatment centers, nationwide, serving 1, 100, 000+ patients.
These efforts have equally helped in decommissioning 100+ diesel-generating sets in healthcare facilities across the nation.
The Honourable Minister nominated members of his team and inaugurated a committee to work with the REA to further strengthen the critical nexus between energy and healthcare.
