MD/CEO REA Abba Aliyu had the pleasure of receiving the pioneer Honourable Commissioner for Power and Renewable Energy, Jigawa State, Engr. Surajo A. Musa, and his team, where they discussed the ministry's strategic direction and initiatives to deliver on His Excellency’s vision of statewide electrification. Jigawa’s vast land, abundant solar radiation, and secure environment position it as a prime region for solar energy deployment.
However, it is essential for the State Government to align with the Federal Government’s comprehensive electrification plan and design incentives that encourage Renewable Energy Service Companies (RESCOs) to see Jigawa as an economically viable and conducive place for investment. Abba was particularly pleased to hear the Honourable Commissioner affirm the state's commitment to advancing renewable energy by hosting the first state-sponsored RESCOs roundtable.
This event will be a key opportunity to showcase the state’s potential, policies, and incentives, creating a pathway for private sector investment in electrifying Jigawa’s communities. REA remains committed to supporting subnational initiatives to ensure the successful implementation of the Electricity Act 2023
