MD/CEO REA HOLDS SIDE MEETING WITH STATE COMMISSIONERS OF ENERGY- PRESENTED WITH AN AWARD FOR MERITORIOUS AND SELFLESS SERVICE IN POWER SECTOR The Managing Director/CEO of REA met with the State Commissioners of Energy of the Federation during the REA, State Government and Distribution Companies (DISCOs) Roundtable event, held on Wednesday, 28th February 2024 at NAF Conference Centre, Kado, Abuja. The main aim of the two-day event with theme “Fostering Collaboration and Partnership with states and DISCOs to enhance Rural Electrification Access across the Country” was organized to allow the REA, State-Government, DISCOs, Developers and other stakeholders to dialogue on potential pathways for collaboration and to have an agreed engagement and communications frame work that will help accelerate energy access across the country. The MD/CEO of REA said that the roundtable event aims to provide an avenue for discussions that will enhance rural electrification access across the country as well as provide insights on rural electrification strategy and implementation plan and the role of states and DISCOs in electricity market within the framework of the 2023 electricity act. The Chairman Forum of the State Commissioners of Energy and Power, Prince Eka Williams JB, who doubles as the Cross Rivers State Commissioner of Power and Renewable Energy thanked Engineer Ahmed Salihijo Ahmad for the roundtable session and sought for a deepened relationship between REA and the states. He urged the MD/CEO of REA to always reach out to the States on any electricity related matters. The Forum of State Commissioners of Power and Energy of Nigeria presented Engineer Ahmad Salihijo Ahmad with an award in recognition of his meritorious and selflessness in the power sector. The MD/CEO of REA thanked the Forum for their gesture and appreciated all the Commissioners for making time to attend the roundtable event.
