On the 2nd February 2024 in Abuja, the Honourable Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu officially launched the 2024 Nigeria Residential Sector Energy Demand-Side Survey, a critical survey led by the Federal Ministry of Power, with support from the European Union and the International Energy Agency (IEA). Over 5,000 households will be surveyed across the 6 geo-political zones of the nation, aiding the Federal Government’s decision-making in the formulation and implementation of sustainable energy policies. As energy data remains a key factor in the implementation of energy programmes in Nigeria, the Federal Government is focused on exploiting the best technologies and survey models to collate the necessary data, especially in hard-to-reach locations across the nation. The MD/CEO of REA, Engr. Ahmad Salihijo joined the Honourable Minister and other industry stakeholders at the event. Through the EU support, and with implementation by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) and technical support from the Energy Commission of Nigeria (ECN), this initiative is another testament to the quality of inter-agency collaboration in the energy space through the guidance of the Federal Ministry of Power
