RURAL ELECTRIFICATION AGENCY COMMISSIONS A 60kWp SOLAR HYBRID MINI GRID IN OBUDU CATTLE RANCH AND CONDUCTED A GROUNDBREAKING OF 100kWp ISOLATED SOLAR MINI GRID AT BOTTOMHILL COMMUNITY, OBANLIKU LGA, CROSS RIVER STATE

Cross River State, Nigeria – The Rural Electrification Agency (REA), commissioned a 60KW solar hybrid mini grid at Obudu Cattle Ranch and the surrounding communities in Obanliku Local Government Area of Cross River State. The Agency as part of its mandate of electrifying unserved and underserved areas across the country deployed this project through its capital appropriation projects targeted at rural areas. This project will provide clean, safe, affordable and reliable electricity for the health center towards improving service delivery. The project was officially commissioned by the Honourable Minister of State for Power, Mr. Goddy Jedy-Agba, OFR.
The REA Managing Director/CEO, Engr. Ahmad Salihijo Ahmad, was ably Represented by the Executive Director, Rural Electrification Fund, Dr. Sanusi Ohiare. While giving his remarks stated “I use this opportunity to encourage the Management of the Obudu Ranch as well as the people of this beautiful community to optimize this intervention and leverage the availability of clean, safe and reliable energy for impact and growth.”
The Honourable Minister of State for Power, Mr. Goddy Jedy-Agba, OFR while giving his remarks stated “I enjoin the Management of the Obudu Cattle Ranch to optimize this clean, safe and reliable energy to power this vital facility. I encourage you all to make the best use of this facility for socio-economic impact.”
The General Manager of Obudu Cattle Ranch stated “As the representative of the people of Obudu, I want to reassure you of our continued cooperation to make sure that no harm comes to this project. It is our mini grid and we will protect it as our own.”
The deployed project will benefit over 3600 inhabitants in Obudu while improving the socio economic wellbeing of the ranch.
Furthermore, the Honourable Minister of State for Power, Mr. Goddy Jedy-Agba, OFR conducted the groundbreaking of a 100kWp Isolated solar mini grid at the Bottomhill Community, Obanliku Local Government Area, Cross River State.
The project will be deployed under the Rural Electrification Fund (REF) Programme of REA and upon completion will improve the status of the community as well as having economic impact in the community and its environs.
