REA Executive Management Visits Nigeria Governors' Forum (NGF), Discuss Sustained Partnership with State Governments for Sustainable Energy Access Scale-up
On the 29th of July, the DG, NGF Abdulateef Shittu, received the REA Executive Management, led by the MD/CEO, Abba Abubakar Aliyu; Executive Director, REF Engr. Doris Uboh; the Executive Director Technical Services, Umar Abdullahi and Head, Nigeria Electrification Project, Olufemi Akinyelure.
For over a decade, the REA has sustained a productive partnership with the Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF) as it continues to double down on the deployment of energy access infrastructure in all
774 Local Governments, across the 36 States of the Federation + the FCT.
While commending the efforts of the REA & the REA MD's history of impactful leadership in the public & private sectors, the NGF DG, Abdulateef Shittu emphasized the need to make energy access the focal point of all development efforts & harness the nation's expertise for same.
Abba Abubakar Aliyu, while presenting snapshots of the REA's multidimensional impact across the nation, explained that electricity remains the key to economic growth & REA is committed to sustaining its efforts on emancipating communities economically by providing them energy access.
Against the backdrop of the strategic pathway as codified in the 2023 Electricity Act, the role of State Governments in the energy access journey & the REA's productive engagements with the NGF, the Agency is exploring more data-driven, impact-focused energy access interventions.
