On Monday, 12th February, 2024, the REA received the Honourable Members of the House of Rep Committee on Renewable Energy, led by the Chairman of the Committee, Hon. Afam Victor Ogene. The delegation was on familiarization visit to the REA as both institutions continue to reiterate the resolve towards charting a new path for the accelerated adoption of renewable energy infrastructure and innovative solutions across Nigeria. In November 2023, the House of Rep Committee on Renewable Energy reaffirmed the need for the nation to be intentional in investing in renewable energy technologies and solutions. The members explained that “the global quest for a safer, sustainable and renewable energy, is an indication that we all agree that there is a need for a new way of doing things”. Over the years, the REA has maintained a close-knit collaboration with critical stakeholders in the public and private sectors as well as the development space as the agency continues to optimize data-driven and people-focused energy solutions to close the energy gap across sectors. As the pioneer members of the Committee on renewable Energy, the visit to the Rural Electrification Agency signaled a new line of engagement with the National Assembly especially at a critical period when stakeholders in the energy sector are deliberately harping on the recently passed 2023 Electricity Act.
