ABOUT THE EEP STEM INTERNSHIP PROGRAMME
As gender inclusion is a core object of the REA; to promote and drive women's participation in electrification initiatives, the initiative of the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Female Students Internship Programme was established under the EEP. This Internship Programme is being implemented across all phases of the EEP and is providing hands-on practical experience to twenty (20) female STEM students from each of the beneficiary institutions in the design and construction of the power systems throughout the construction stage of the EEP projects, as well as to provide continued skill/capacity building after the STEM Internship Programme.
Objectives
The objectives of the Internship Programme are as follows:
• To assist the students to excel academically in their various STEM courses, as well as encourage them to further advance their studies in STEM-related courses/ disciplines.
• To expose and give the students the confidence to take up STEM related careers with experts (indigenous and foreign) companies within the energy sector.
• To equip the students with the skills/expertise required to thrive in the renewable energy sector.
