In line with the NEP stakeholder engagement strategy, REA conducted a series of community engagements and surveys in 99 communities out of the initial 105 communities across Nasarawa (49), Kwara (42) and Oyo (8), states to sensitize the community members in the above mentioned states of intervention. The community engagement began on the 3rd of December 2019 and was concluded on the 8th of December 2019. Communities were educated on the benefits, impacts, productive uses of solar electricity and the formation of the Electricity Users Cooperative Society. Messaging included gender inclusion, community support, environmental, and social safeguards. Teams comprised technical and non-technical staff from: NEP PMU, REA Promotions Department, Special Projects & Renewals Department, Zonal Offices and community representatives. As part of the process in preparing the Phase 1 MST tender, key findings from the engagement have been illustrated in this report. |
