DISCLOSURE OF DRAFT ESF DOCUMENTS FOR CONSULTATION

The Federal Republic of Nigeria (the Recipient) will implement the Nigeria Distributed Access to Renewable Energy Scale-Up Project (DARES) with the involvement of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) as set out in the Financing Agreement. The International Development Association (the Association) has agreed to provide the original financing for the Project as set out in the referred agreement.

As required by the World Bank, the REA has prepared the following documents prior to project implementation:

Environmental and Social Commitment Plan (ESCP)
Environmental and Social Management Framework (ESMF)
Financial Intermediary: Environmental and Social Management System (ESMS)
Labour Management Procedures (LMP)
Resettlement Policy Framework (RPF)
Stakeholder Engagement Plan (SEP)

The purpose of these documents is to ensure environmental and social risks and impacts that are associated with proposed project activities are identified and avoided. Where avoidance is not possible, such risks and impacts will be minimized and mitigated.

The REA would like to disclose the above draft ESF documents for the purpose of public consultation.

The above documents are disclosed for 21 days (6th- 27th October 2023) in full text in English.
