As part of REA’s strategic engagement with vital stakeholders geared towards encouraging beneficial exchange of ideas, an Ethiopian delegation visited the REA office for a peer-to-peer exchange on the 30 th of May, 2019. The visit by the Ethiopian delegation was geared towards fostering a peer-to-peer exchange on the building blocks to accelerating mini-grids deployment.
The meeting, attended by the Executive Director of REF, Dr. Sanusi Ohiare, Directors of the Directorates of Promotions, Information and Outreach, Funds Management, Procurement, Project, Planning, Research and Development and other REA staff members, also had in attendance representatives from the African LEDS Partnership, the German Government through the Nigerian Energy Support Programme [NESP]/Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit [GIZ] and the Federal Ministry for Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety and Nigeria Electricity Regulatory Commission.
The peer-to-peer engagement enabled all attendees to share experiences, achievements and ideas on renewable energy growth in Africa. Dr. Ohiare, who spoke extensively on the renewable energy ecosystem in Nigeria and the impact the Federal Government, explained that the REA owe part of its success to the presence of forward-thinking professionals at REA working towards ensuring the mandate is upheld. The 2-day bilateral exchange concluded on the 31 st of May, 2019.
