On the 23rd of March, 2022 the MD/CEO of REA, Engr. Ahmad Salihijo Ahmad received Major General IM Yusuf, the 31st Commandant of the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) at the #REAHQ.
The duo engaged extensively on the expected impact of the 2nd Phase of the Energizing Education Programme (EEP). The Academy had signed Term Sheets with the REA ahead of plans to energize its facility with clean, safe and sustainable energy through the EEP.
The 2nd and 3rd phases of the EEP, being funded by the World Bank Nigeria and the African Development Bank Group under the Nigeria Electrification Project (NEP) is designed to provide sustainable and clean power supply to 15 Federal Universities and 2 University Teaching Hospitals across Nigeria, including upgrading existing distribution infrastructure, street lighting to improve security within the universities’ campuses, as well as the development of a world class training centre on renewable energy for each university.
Ultimately, over 300,000 students and about 40,000 staff members will have access to clean, sustainable energy. In addition, about 5,000 medical professionals will have access to clean, safe and reliable energy
