A courtesy visit by His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Ekiti State Government, Hon. Biodun Ayebanji and his incisive team of professionals, Commissioners and Advisors, which quickly turned into an insightful and knowledge-driven session, to the delight of myself and my colleagues at the Rural Electrification Agency.
I totally agree with His Excellency that Ekiti State is a small state with big ideas and just like every state in Nigeria, to fully optimize the very essence of Ekiti State, there is a need for accelerated deployment of sustainable energy solutions for socio-economic growth. State Governments are REA’s primary stakeholders and partners in the business of electrification, seeing how pivotal the State is as a channel to deploy data-driven electrification projects in unserved and underserved communities located in different LGAs. This is why we have, through the guidance of the Governors’ Forum strengthened the connection between state governments and the REA
Through the seamless engagements with state Focal Persons, we already see the impact of these strategic collaborations. The Governor’s visit today, his words and commendations as well as his insightful recommendations were very encouraging. We equally had the opportunity to share images and data snapshots of completed and ongoing REA projects in the state. Yes, we can do more. With such quality collaborations and support from the state governments, guidance from the Federal Ministry of Power and continued support of the Nigerian Government
we will continue to expand the impact footprint of the Agency. On the instructions of His Excellency, we have activated a committee which consists of key members of the Governor’s team as well as the REA’s team to further assess the energy needs, gaps and opportunities for improved energy access in the state
