Technical Workshop for Mini Grid and Solar Home Systems
On April 15 and 16, 2019, the Rural Electrification Agency (REA), in collaboration with the World Bank, held a two-day workshop on the Nigeria Electrification Project (NEP) Mini Grid and Solar Home Systems.
The event provided prospective developers with procurement requirements to participate in the NEP Minimum Subsidy Tender and Performance-Based Grant for Component 1 (Solar Mini Grid). It also provided knowledge building on the Output Based Fund and the Market Scale-up Challenge Fund for Component 2 (Solar Home Systems). The workshop presentations included environmental and social requirements as well as training on Odyssey – the NEP online tender submissions platform.
Over 600 participants comprising of investors, financiers and private developers participated in the workshop. The various breakout sessions were highly interactive with attendees providing recommendations on policies and opportunities to further develop the off-grid renewable power space.
