Rural Electrification Agency (REA) organized a workshop titled “Train the Trainer” for the Zonal Co-coordinators from REA zonal office. The event was held on September, 27,2018 at Stonehedge Hotel, Central Business District, Abuja.
The workshop began with the registration of participants followed by a welcome address from the MD/CEO Mrs. Damilola Ogunbiyi. The event kick-started with a presentation of the overview of the Nigeria Electrification Project (NEP) and continued with the training of Zonal coordinators on the steps for conducting pre-community engagement that included how to use the mobile app to carry out community surveys on community profile, consumer profile and community engagement KPI with geotagged photographs and videos in preparation for the upcoming town hall engagement. Zonal Coordinators were also to meet with
Community leaders, distribute promotional materials about the solar mini grid project.
The goal of the workshop is to emphasize the importance of communications to kick-start the pre-community engagement for the 10 pilot communities. REA communications team provided the Zonal Coordinators with an information guide and a checklist of items that were key to the success of the project. The training will serve as a stepping-stone to the various communications activities that are set to begin in each community ahead of the NEP. In anticipation for the upcoming town hall engagement, the REA Promo team has developed and created promotional materials such as pamphlets and posters about the NEP, translations of these promotional materials into various dialects have been done to ensure that the communities are properly engaged and knowledgeable about the Nigeria Electrification Project (NEP).
