REA Signs Grants Agreement for Productive Use Equipment (PUE)
Sustainable energy access, when productively used, has a multidimensional impact in previously unserved and underserved communities. At the Rural Electrification Agency, we have witnessed the real-time transformative impact of productive use of energy (PUE).
This is why through the Nigeria Electrification Project (NEP), with support from the African Development Bank, there is a component specifically targeted at catalyzing the market on Productive Use Equipment and Appliances. I am delighted that today, we signed grant agreements with major energy access companies (EACs), marking another key milestone in the off-grid, renewable energy space.
I urge all the companies to continue to explore innovative energy access products, while working with us to deliver on the objectives of the programme.
Before now, we had carried out some successful pilots on PUE. There are opportunities and possibilities to scale and we are leveraging REA’s expertise, while counting on the growing community of private sector players in the sector to leverage R&D + innovation and continue to proffer smart solutions to energy access gaps.
