REA-NEP PROJECT MANAGEMENT UNIT SIGNS PERFORMANCE BASED GRANT (PBG) AGREEMENT WITH THREE COMPANIES
The Nigeria Electrification Project (NEP), Project Management Unit (PMU) of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) on Tuesday, 14th and 28th June 2022 signed Performance Based Grant (PBG) agreement a sub-component of NEP solar mini grid with three (3) companies Messrs. Wavelength Power Services Limited, Maskh Nigeria Limited and Solonic Energy Limited.
Head, Project Management Unit (HPMU)-NEP, Anita Otubu performed the signing agreement on behalf of the REA, Managing Director/CEO Engr. Ahmad Salihijo Ahmad at the NEP office conference room which had in attendance, the Solar Mini Grid, Component Lead, Engr. Uche Honnah and other NEP team members as well as representatives of the companies.
While delivering her opening remarks she informed the companies that their partnership on the project as well as other developers that had earlier signed similar agreements, is very vital in improving access to electricity in the unserved and underserved rural communities of Nigeria. Therefore, she urged them to put up a high-level commitment in execution of the projects and assured them of REA’s fulfilment of its responsibilities at all times.
In response, the companies informed her of their readiness to put in their best of both human, financial and material resources and assured on the delivery of state-of-the-art projects that can be compared to any standard in the world within the shortest possible time.
Wavelength Integrated Power Services Limited signed for 1 site in Imula community Idanre LGA, Ondo State, Maskh Nigeria Limited signed for 4 communities in Bauchi State and Solonic signed for 4 communities in Nasarawa State respectively.
A total of 604.5kWp of PV Capacity installation is expected to be deployed at the sites, with proposed connections of 3,555 to households and MSMEs, by the three companies in the 9 communities impacting approximately 17, 775 Nigerians.
