REA/NEP HOLDS PRE-PROPOSAL CONFERENCE MEETING WITH 19 FIRMS FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF SOLAR HYBRID POWER PLANTS UNDER THE EEP PHASE II.
The Rural Electrification Agency (REA) held a physical and virtual pre-proposal meeting at Sheraton Hotel, Abuja on Monday, 20th December, 2021. In attendance where the 19 shortlisted firms out of the 114 applicants that participated in the Initial Selection Procurement stage under the Energizing Education Programme (EEP) Phase II.
Sequel to issuance of the Request for Proposal (RfP) on 25th November, 2021 and the conclusion of the pre-proposal site visits, the initially selected applicants are required to submit competitive and innovative technical and financial proposals for evaluation towards the issuance of the Engineering Procurement Construction Contracts for the EEP Phase II.
Consequently, the conference provided opportunities for applicants to seek clarification on matters regarding the RfP as well as observations made following the site visits to the seven (7) Federal Universities and two (2) Teaching Hospitals under the EEP Phase II namely; University of Abuja, Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta; Federal University of Gashua; Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike; University of Maiduguri & Teaching Hospital; University of Calabar & Teaching Hospital; and the Nigerian Defense Academy.
The EEP projects once completed will ensure a conducive learning environment within the universities through the provision of clean, reliable and sustainable power supply.
In addition, it will provide increased security within the campuses through the provision of streetlights as well as the training of staff and students within each beneficiary institution with the development of a world class renewable energy workshop and training center.

Joro Sallau, (EEP Phase II, Component Lead, REA-NEP), other REA/NEP Team members as well as members of the Project Owner’s Engineer and representatives of the 19 shortlisted firms.
