Together, Let’s #OrangeTheWorld
Let us all join the amazing women at Rural Electrification Agency of Nigeria – REA and across the world as we lend our voices to the fight against Gender-Based Violence (GBV) across the world. Let us speak up and speak loud against any form of violence.
I am delighted that we have maintained a standard at the REA that continues to allow women function safely and express their creative abilities in their assigned roles.
We have also recorded very commendable impact through our gender mainstreaming programme at the REA, with over 80 Female STEM interns, selected from across 7 beneficiary universities under the Energizing Education Programme (EEP) already trained and certified on renewable energy.
Also, in an effort to create awareness about GBV, with particular emphasis on sexual exploitation, abuse as well as harassment, the REA through the Nigeria Electrification project (NEP) has made it mandatory for project developers to train field workers on GBV and have a Code of Conduct signed by all project staff members. The project is also mapping GBV service providers across all state of the NEP project implementation.
It is widely believed that growth and impact is easily accelerated when you nurture a strong workforce of men and women working together within their spaces with 0 level of fear or intimidation and a high level of safety, comfort and healthy team spirit.
At REA, this is what we continue to encourage as we carry out our critical mandate of powering the unserved and underserved Nigerians across this great nation.
Together, Let’s #OrangeTheWorld.
